AUBURN, CA – Placer RCD and 39 other Resource Conservation Districts in California were awarded $19.4M by the Wildlife Conservation Board to create pollinator habitat and sequester carbon. Due to climate change and habitat loss, many species of California wildlife are in peril. Placer RCD will use the $450,000 received as part of this grant to create and enhance pollinator habitat on both public and private lands, with 33% of the funding for this program allocated to members of socially disadvantaged groups.

Placer RCD is pleased to use these funds to assist individuals and organizations in creating pollinator habitat in private lands, farmland, orchards and vineyards, ranchland, schools, community gardens, and more. The funding will cover the cost of plants, irrigation, and labor. If you would like to create habitat for pollinators, please complete an Interest Form.

Placer RCD is grateful for the support from the Wildlife Conservation Board and acknowledges the leadership provided by the California Association of Conservation Districts (CARCD) in securing the funding and providing implementation support. For their knowledge and resources Placer RCD would also like to acknowledge Audubon California, the Carbon Cycle Institute, Great Valley Seed, Heritage Growers, Monarch Joint Venture, Point Blue, and the Xerces Society.
