Mark White

Mark White was born and raised in a rural setting in North Dakota. Mark graduated high school in 1971. During his high school years, he was employed as a “farm-hand” and was involved with the various farming and ranching activities. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in the summer of l971. He became a Security Specialist and received an honorable discharge in the summer of l975. Following his discharge from the USAF, he moved to Sacramento, CA. Once in California he enrolled in American River College, in 1978, while attending American River College, Mark accepted a position with the USDA-Soil Conservation Service (now known as the Natural Resources Conservation Service) as a Soil Conservation Technician in the Placerville field office. He transferred to the Dixon field office in the spring of l980 to obtain permanent employment. In the fall of 1980, he was offered a soil conservation technician position at the Auburn field office of the USDA-SCS. During his employment with the SCS in Auburn, he attended California State University California-Sacramento. In l984 he graduated from Sacramento State with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography (with and emphasis on Planning). He was subsequently promoted to a Soil Conservationist, and in 1990 took a position as District Conservationist in the Florin field office of the USDA-SCS. During the fall of l990 Mark returned to the Auburn area, was hired by the Placer Resource Conservation District as a Resource Management Planner. His activities for the District include farm and ranch planning, irrigation system design/evaluations and storm water management planning and consultation to the County and the cities/towns within the District. He also provides training workshops to the general public and local government agencies in the subjects of Storm Water and Irrigation System management.

Mark has the following educational/certifications/awards:

  • 1971: Graduated High School in Edgeley, North Dakota
  • 1973:  Airman of the Year with 25th Air Division.
  • 1981; A.A. Degree from American River College, Sacramento
  • 1984: B.A. degree from CSUS, Sacramento
  • 1993-2017: Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor (CLIA) by the Irrigation Association of America
  • 1994-2020: Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC) by the Soil and Water Conservation Society
