A healthy community garden that is able to adapt and pursue their goals in a sustainable way can be, and are, driving forces for health in the communities and landscapes they serve. Thanks to an Urban Ag and Community Initiative Grant made available by the National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) and the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS), in 2021 and 2022, the Placer Resource Conservation District toured and documented community gardens within Placer County to learn more about where and how many community gardens there are in Placer County, what’s happening inside these community gardens, how community gardens relate to their community, and learn more about the future of community gardens.

What follows are resources to learn more about community gardens in Placer County as well as other resources for community gardens to consider. To learn more, please contact:

There are 17 community gardens in Placer County that are all serving their communities in unique and remarkable ways. In 2021 and 2022, the Placer RCD set out to discover who and where these community gardens are, how they operate, and what they are up to. What we learned has been shared in the 2021 Placer County Community Garden review as a resource for the community to know more about what community gardening looks like here in Placer County.
