Lewis Campbell

A photo of Lewis Campbell.

Lewis started with the Placer RCD (Resource Conservation District) in April 2022. Lewis has a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences from University of California, Berkeley, and a Master of Forestry from Oregon State University where, as the focus of his studies, he interviewed landowners to help create a decision-making tool to assist them in managing large-scale tree mortality. Professionally, Lewis worked for three years doing forestry work with the State of California, working for a private timber industry, helping a private landowner with forest inventory, and working with another conservation district office.

Lewis was born and raised in California where he backpacked the Sierra and spent time at his family’s forest ranch which nurtured a passion for California’s forest ecosystems and communities. His educational, vocational, and recreational endeavors have led him to focus on a career that helps small landowners access the resources they need to actively manage their land.

Furthermore, Lewis has a Firefighter Type II certification and is working toward becoming a Registered Professional Forester in California.

When not working, Lewis enjoys trail running, backpacking trips, swimming in rivers, working on fun woodworking projects, playing guitar, and spending time with friends and family.

Lewis is excited and honored to contribute to the ongoing work being done to maintain and expand wildfire resilience throughout Placer County and contribute to this community. Lewis will help to coordinate forestry projects and provide landowner technical assistance.
