Andrew Justus-Fritz joined the Placer RCD in November of 2020. His role as Community & Conservation Director is diverse and includes overseeing and managing agriculture, backyard and community, watershed, habitat, outreach, and communications projects and programs. Andrew received his B.A. in Geographic Information Science with two minors in Geology and Telecommunications from Ball State University in 2005 as well as completing graduate work in Landscape Architecture in 2008 with a focus on landscape ecology. In 2005, Andrew started his conservation work with the Student Conservation Association and AmeriCorps working in Baxter State Park, Maine. Prior to his current position, Andrew was an urban conservation technician and urban agriculture conservationist with the Hamilton County Soil and Water Conservation District focusing on urban agriculture, backyard conservation, stormwater runoff mitigation, invasive species management, pest relations, and other urban resource matters. He also was a Landscape Architect, GIS analyst, marketing director, and youth director. Formerly, Andrew served as an operations committee member for the Next Generation Leadership Institute, a joint initiative of the National Association of Conservation Districts and the National Conservation Foundation. He lives in Auburn along the American River in a very small home.
