PLACER RESOURCE CONSERVATION DISTRICT SEEKING APPLICANTS FOR NEW BOARD DIRECTOR AND ASSOCIATE BOARD POSITIONS

Text reads "board seats available" over a darkened background of a group of people holding tools and watching a prescribed burn take place.

Placer Resource Conservation District (Placer RCD, District) is seeking one (1) new Board Director and five (5) individuals to fill Associate Board positions. Placer RCD’s Board of Directors (Board) consists of seven (7) Board Directors appointed by the Placer County Board of Supervisors, with additional Associate Board positions.

The Placer RCD is a community-focused, non-regulatory Special District with a mission to support thriving ecosystems, resilient communities, and the stewardship of working lands. Through collaboration with partner agencies, private landowners, and local organizations, Placer RCD promotes the wise use and conservation of natural resources. Each year, the District provides technical assistance to thousands and leads projects that protect communities from catastrophic fire, mitigate climate change, reduce soil erosion, improve soil and water health, enhance biodiversity, and support local food production. Placer RCD seeks dedicated individuals with experience, skills, and a passion for conservation, wise land stewardship, community, and Placer County to contribute to its fiduciary governance and strategic planning.

Board Directors and Associate Directors are responsible for the following:

  • (1) Board Director: Members of Placer RCD’s Board of Directors serve a term of four years and are responsible for governance and financial oversight of the District. The Board approves of annual budgets, engages with legal council, adopts board policies, and more. Board Directors are expected to attend regular meetings which are subject to the Brown Act, and must either own land within Placer County or have a proxy who owns land within Placer County.
  • (5) Associate Director: Associate Directors may participate in discussions at the Board meetings, however, they may not vote on any item before the Board or participate in closed-session discussions. Associate Directors must meet the residency, property ownership or agency eligibility requirements listed above.

Anyone interested in applying for a Director or Associate Director position is encouraged to email Sarah Jones at sarah@placerrcd.org to receive application information and further details.
