Will Tupen is the Prescribed Fire Program Coordinator for Placer RCD. Prior to joining the RCD team, Will worked for several years as a Wildland Firefighter on Engines, Handcrews and Helitack crews for the U.S. Forest Service and CAL FIRE. He holds a B.S. in Environmental Sustainability from Northern Arizona University and is passionate about improving local ecosystems and community wildfire resilience through the use of prescribed fire. Additionally, Will is a certified Fire Effects Monitor (FEMO).
Will grew up in Auburn, CA and spends a lot of his time recreating throughout Placer County. In his free time, he enjoys running, road tripping, camping, and when the rain arrives, mushroom foraging.
