Steve was appointed by the Placer County Board of Supervisors as a Placer RCD Director in January, 2015. He currently serves as the Secretary/Treasurer.
Steve was raised in Oakland, California. He attended Iowa State University where he earned a B.S. Degree in Forest Management. His work experience includes pesticide research for a major petro-chemical company, employment as a Forester for the U.S. Forest Service, and 30 years working for the State of California, retiring in 2010 as a Deputy Chief for Cal Fire. After retirement Steve has worked part time as a Consulting Forester.
Steve is a California Registered Professional Forester, Agricultural Pest Control Advisor, and holds a pesticide Qualified Applicator Certificate.
In addition to volunteering his time to the Placer RCD, Steve volunteers as the Treasurer for the California Forest Pest Council. He is also a member of the Society of American Foresters and the California Licensed Foresters Association.
Steve became familiar with Resource Conservation Districts and their importance while managing forestry assistance programs for Cal Fire. In retirement he wanted to volunteer his time and 40+ years experience to benefit Placer RCD and the people and natural resources of Placer County.
