Scott started with the Placer RCD in 2023 and serves as the Forestry Director, overseeing a program focused on wildfire resiliency and forest health in Placer County. Scott has a B.S. in Forestry from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and is a California Registered Professional Forester (RPF). He started out in his career as a seasonal sawyer on a Timber Stand Improvement (TSI) Crew working in the Sierra National Forest. That season opened his eyes to the joy of working in the woods and seeing the benefits of forest health improvement projects firsthand. Scott has now accumulated over 15 years of experience as a professional forester in both the private and public sectors and has experience preparing forest health projects in California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, and Colorado. Although his day job no longer requires running a chainsaw, he is still passionate about the implementation of forest health treatments and builds his own backyard burn pile every year. Scott is also a local Auburnite and is ready to rise to the challenge to increase the pace and scale of forest health improvement projects in Placer County which will support our community’s resilience against climate change, drought, and wildfire. In his free time, Scott likes to take his dog Nala to the dog park or spend time with his human friends while playing outdoor volleyball at Regional Park.
