Jim Holmes is a direct descendant of two Pioneer families who came to Placer County in the 1850’s and 1860’s, whose primary focus was on agriculture and education.
Jim has 38 years as a local elected official serving as a 18 year Board member of the Placer Consolidated Fire Protection District, an 8 year Trustee of the Auburn Union Elementary School District and a 20 year member of the Placer County Board of Supervisors representing District 3. On the Board of Supervisors he was involved in the formation of the Placer County Conservation Plan and was appointed to the Middle Fork Project Finance Board of Directors. He has been a 20-year supporter of the Placer Land Trust and a longtime supporter of the Gold Country Fair, particularly the Jr. Livestock Auction. Jim Holmes joined the Placer County Resource Conservation District because of the amazing work the District has done to preserve the agricultural heritage of Placer County, and to continue his tradition of public service.
To Jim, one of the best things about the Resource Conservation District is their collaboration with Placer County, the Placer Land Trust, CalFire and the Placer County Fire Department as well as the Placer County Probation Department, among others. He believes that the legacy of the Placer County Resource Conservation will be the preservation of Placer County’s agriculture and scenic open space.
